Social Innovation in Health Initiative - Philippines Hub
Dr. Jana Deborah B. Mier-Alpaño graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 2014. For four years, she served as the Municipal Health Officer of Quezon, Quezon, a rural island municipality in the Philippines, under the “Doctors to the Barrios” Program of the Department of Health. In 2016, she finished her Masters in Public Management – Major in Health Systems and Development from the Development Academy of the Philippines, wherein she received the Leadership Award for her role as batch President, and the Creativity and Innovation Special Merit Award for her initiatives in improving the referral system in her area of assignment. While working as Municipal Health Officer, she also hosted medical and global health students and served as their local preceptor in their Remote Island Medicine rotation.
Even after Dr. Jana’s contract under the Doctors to the Barrios Program, she endeavours to continue to be engaged in remote area care and health systems development in the Philippines. She is now affiliated with the Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) Philippines Hub, as a Project Manager.
