Dr Subodh S Gupta; MD (Paed), DNB (Maternal & Child Heath), DNB (Social Preventive Medicine)
Dr Subodh S Gupta is currently working as Professor in Social Pediatrics at MGIMS, Sewagram. He has been part of team involved in developing a number of innovative community-based strategies and programs in the areas of early childhood development, parents’ empowerment, home-based management for childhood illness, family life education, and community-based monitoring of maternal and child health services.
Currently, through an UNICEF-supported project, he is working to develop a model for parents’ empowerment for nurturing care of children through existing opportunities in ICDS and health sector in 10 community development blocks of Maharashtra covering approximately 15,00,000 population. He is also a member of Consultative group and Guidelines Development Committee on Early Childhood Development at WHO, Geneva.
Earlier, he worked as national focal person for child health and development at WHO Country Office for India for two years in 2010 – 2012, when he facilitated development of tools for review of reproductive and child health program at state and district levels and training packages for capacity building of program managers in reproductive and child health.
He is a recipient of FAIMER Fellowship for medical teachers and Salzburg Fellowship for Early Childhood Care and Development. He has contributed to several national level guidelines on child health – including Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram; India Newborn Action Plan. He is member of National Steering Committee for Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram.
